I think that what Graphicz was suggesting here was a way to convert cobble to wood via smelting in a separate furnace. Not entirely sure about that, but maybe add a way to make regular seeds from cobble and magic dust? And/or a way to make saplings.
I like to use Useful Cobble along with Useful Seeds. Of course that only works if you can get enough seeds.
