I personally think that adding a tree like this is a bit weird. It seems to fake to me, too strange for the overworld. So I'm like I am suggestion you make it so it spawns in the nether, as the nether is a place where you get glowing things. This will also help with getting wood while living in the nether. Another suggestion is if you don't like the idea of it spawning in the nether, make it either pretty rare, or make it so there is a new rareish biome, which has glowing landscape. It would be a strange biome, so it would be half as rare as the mooshroom biome. Thanks! ~Pecola1

I am actually planning to put in a whole new biome, but I wanted to put the tree in now instead of waiting until the whole thing was done.

If it spawned in the nether I would say only on soul sand blocks, and at a max of 7 blocks high, no less than. A small tree glowing from the souls that helped feed its growth....mwuahahaaa.....

The trees only generate in the bright biome. It is basically as pecola1 said above. A very bright and fairly rare biome.
They are on average 10 blocks tall with only a few leaves at the top. They only spawn on dirt or bright grass. They can also be spawned on grass once I fix the saplings.

And you said bonemeal won't work on the saplings right? Will there perchance be magic fertilizer for brightwood trees specifically? one bonemeal/fertilizer surrounded by 8 magic powder. Do you connect to the forge ore/liquid dictionary at all?

Right now there is no sapling at all. But yes, there will be some replacement for bonemeal. I only forgo the use of bonemeal because it would require me to modify some base classes, and I don't want to do that.
I don't think the bonemeal substitute will be as expensive as what you descried though.

well really, that's not all that expensive....just hard to acquire the bonemeal sometimes. Unless you have IC2 uu matter xD which I do.

It may not be expensive compared to other parts of the mod, but for a bonemeal substitute, it is a little expensive. I would probably take the magic powder out of the corners. That way it is only 4 magic powder for every 1 bonemeal used.

Hmm....alternatively, you could make an entirely Usefull Cobble based one? Say use the grindstone on brightwood logs to get glowing dust (not glowstone mind you) which you then craft in a 2x2 to get glowing wood chunk, then craft that as the + with the chunk in the center, magic dust the outside, then smelt that for magic infused charcoal, which would act as fertilizer AND burn twice as long as regular charcoal

You have some pretty good ideas. Very well thought out. I don't know if this will ever happen, but I do like the things you are coming up with.
